I've been told by my family that I started singing and dancing to music ever since I was incredibly little. I absolutely love it! So, when I became an Ubichamp and was given the sweet sweet opportunity to review games (if you don't know me, I love games), I was already in heaven. Then my first game to review was Just Dance Summer Party... double yay! I couldn't wait for it to arrive as this would be my first exposure to the Just Dance series of games.
Just Dance Summer Party is, for the hardcore Just Dance fans, a bridge over before Just Dance 3 comes out! It features 20 new tracks which encompass recent hot hits like "Firework"by Katy Perry and "American Boy" by Estelle featuring Kanye West and older favorites like "Kung Fu Fighting", "Song 2", and "Mambo No. 5". The varied song genres makes sure that there's a song for everyone. There are also 3 different modes: Just Dance, Dance Battle, and Just Sweat.
Being my first time playing this, it was a little tricky. I felt incredibly clumsy although all I was doing was trying to imitate the image on the screen while keeping the remote in my hand. It's a lot harder than it sounds! The sensor tracks the movement of the remote in your hand and tells you how you're doing. I know I looked like a mess but it was incredibly fun and I can see people of all ages playing this whether its family time or letting loose and being silly with friends. I can guarantee you'll be laughing...I sure was! My dog was even staring up at me wondering what craziness I was getting into.
My favorite part was the Just Sweat section of the game. Being able to have fun while burning calories is a total plus! I know I run on the treadmill at times and I force myself to stay on there. Trust me, its a lot of willpower. If I can have fun and lose weight, you can count me in! You can choose your regimen to make it harder or easier by the amount of songs you dance to. Its a fun addition to any diet you're on.
The only thing I didn't like about the game was that I had to hold the remote properly or else the sensing was a bit off. Or, maybe I'm in denial and think I was better than I really was. I did enjoy having the lyrics on screen so that even if you aren't the one dancing, you can sing along to your favorite songs! In short, its good family fun and I would definitely recommend it to families and friends. I can't wait to play this when our friends hang out next so that we can have some good laughs, well, mostly at me anyways.
Buy It: Just Dance Summer Party for Nintendo Wii is available at Toys"R"Us or Amazon.com for $25.00-$29.99.
