This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.
I had no idea this was going on even though I shop at Walgreens quite often. Did you know about this about Walgreens and Express Scripts? I only found out because Walgreens decided it needs everybody’s support in order to keep Walgreens as part of Express Scripts network.
Walgreens has been negotiating with Express Scripts for the past year in order to continue with Express Scripts as part of its pharmacy provider network. Unfortunately, negotiations have failed so far and the contract has expired already sometimes late last year.
What does this mean? Walgreens’ pharmacies nationwide are now not a part of Express Scripts’ pharmacy provider network. It not only affects Walgreens but also Duane Reade pharmacies in the New York City area.
This impacts customers who are covered by Express Scripts plans. Now, those people will have to find new pharmacies that are partnered with Express Scripts at pharmacies that may not be as convenient for them. I appreciate how I have so many Walgreens and Duane Reades near me. I find it a hassle to drive farther just to get some scripts filled and its too much of an inconvenience for my schedule.
Many people work so its hard to pick scripts up during the day and with Walgreens not being able to work with Express Scripts anymore, that means we lose out on a lot of 24 hour and drive thru pharmacies that would otherwise make our lives easier.
What can you do? Help Walgreens by contacting your local media and voice your dissatisfaction. Or help spread the word to your friends and family through word of mouth or social networking sites. Support them online and stay updated by following Walgreens on Twitter or liking Walgreens on Facebook.
Walgreens even helps out patients by offering a special discount on the Prescription Savings Club at Walgreens.
