So it was Superbowl Sunday this past weekend and what's a Superbowl without Chili?! I was able to whip some up with the help of some Mexene Chili Mix, Mexene Chili Powder and their Louisiana Hot Sauce. Haha, when these arrived in the mail, you should've seen the way the SO's eyes lit up. He loves chili!
Mexene Chili Powder was first made in 1906 and is a combination of the highest quality sun-ripened pre-frost chili peppers, cumin, oregano, and garlic. Interestingly, it is also called "The Chili Champions' Choice" and is the secret ingredient used in the past 8 winning recipes from the World Championship Chili Cookoff. No wonder, the SO couldn't get enough of it!
The Original Louisiana Hot Sauce is a cayenne pepper sauce suitable for pairing with any meal especially chili, soups and stews. The SO wanted to use it on his KFC too. :) He likes his food hot!
It was relatively simple to use and make. I didn't exactly follow the recipe on the package although you're more than welcome to do so. This is my own Chili recipe.
Ingredients:
-1 pkg of Mexene Chili Mix
-Mexene Chili Powder
-Lousiana Hot Sauce
-1lb of lean ground beef
-1 large red onion
-2 large ripe tomatoes
-Shredded Cheese
1) Chop the onions into strips, tomatoes in chunks.
2) Brown the beef and sautéed the onions.
3) Mix in Mexene Chili Mix.
4) Add 1/2 cup of water.
5) Add in tomatoes and let it simmer 8-10 minutes or desired thickness.
6) Add in Mexene Chili Powder and Louisiana Hot Sauce and mix. Add in however much you need to suit the level of spiciness that you can handle. I added quite a bit because the SO loves it that way!
7) Top with shredded cheese and serve.
Serves 3-4.
I took my picture without the cheese so that you could see the consistency of the chili but it was so good that the SO kept asking for more!

I've always been too scared to make chili. After watching chili cook-offs on tv, it seems so complicated. You made it sound so easy! Thank you! I will definitely not be afraid to make my own now. Much better than opening cans.
I love chili and the spicier the better. This looks so good. I will have to try this recipe. Thank you for sharing!
I bet that chili would make a great dip with some tortilla chips or burrito filling too! Sounds great!
