Tim Burton's Frankenweenie is a story about Victor Frankenstein and his dog, Sparky, in the town of New Holland. Like many of us, the bond between our dogs and us is full of love and loyalty. However, Sparky, like many of our dogs, can be reckless and ends in a mishap that leaves Victor behind on his own. Inspired by the new science teacher's teachings and staying true to the name of "Frankenstein", Victor partakes in an electrifying science experiment that brings Sparky back to life. What happens when the secret gets out? Well, you'll have to watch in theaters 10/05 to find out. ;)
Frankenweenie was definitely an unique film to watch for several unique reasons. It was the first time I had seen a black and white film. And...it was in 3D! How neat is that? The feeling of watching a black and white film is slightly strange to me. I felt it gave more of an impact than if it were in color. The stop and go action method that this film was created in makes it uniquely Tim Burton.
There was humor, emotions, and adventure all bundled in one. There were many scenes where I couldn't stop laughing. Despite having a release date before Halloween and being a well, Halloween time movie, I wouldn't say that it's scary. There was only one scene where I can see children getting frightened in. However, with that being said, I believe that kids aged 7 and up would love to watch Frankenweenie. It does have a happy ending afterall. In fact, I saw quite a few young ones in the theater during the premiere and it looked to me as if they enjoyed it. Overall, Frankenweenie was truly enjoyable and I am honored to have been able to check out the very first 3D Black and White film. I actually hope to see more black and white films in the future. Check it out with your family 10/05, you won't be disappointed!
