How to easily prevent and treat flea and tick infections #dogs #pets #health

flea and tick prevention
Being a pet parent, my heart always dropped when I thought I saw a glimpse of something small and black in between my furbabies fur. I was terrified that they'd get ticks and fleas despite my attempts at timely giving their monthly preventatives. Of course, I'm human too so there were months in which I'd forget to give it on time and would give it late. It's even worse with BabyPom because of his fluffiness. His fluff meant it was so tough for me to check his skin and he loves his walks ever so much. Whoever said Poms were indoor dogs was completely wrong when it comes to BabyPom. Anyhow, I can finally tell you what I've been using on him for the past few months.

You see, I've found an alternative to the drops I usually give him. It was always hard to put the drops on him, unlike JR, because of his fluffiness. I found Seresto™, Bayer HealthCare's genius product. Seresto™ is available for both cats and dogs and boasts easy application and something we haven't seen in the flea and tick prevention market in the US.

This innovative collar consists of a patented polymermatrix releases minimal doses of imidacloprid and flumethrin in response to friction to maintain the necessary level of active ingredient. The result is up to a continuous 8 months of protection against fleas and ticks (Deer ticks, American dog dicks, brown dog ticks, and Lone Star ticks) in cats and dogs. It not only protects but also has to ability to kill ticks and fleas.

Due to the continuous treatment, it saves me the hassle of remember to apply the drops once a month. I just have to replace the collar every 8 months. Regarding it's ease of use, the collar was rather easy to apply and comes with these reflector clips that help to hold the collar at the adjusted size. For BabyPom, the reflectors weren't much use due to the length of his fur hiding them. However, I can see them being useful as a safety device for shorter hair dogs.

I haven't seen anything on BabyPom in the months that we've had the collar on. Granted, we just went through winter and albeit, a mild winter, but nothing has cropped up to my relief. The upside to the collar lies not only in its ease of use but also the fact that there is no powder on it. I've tried a collar before that flaked everywhere. It was insane to clean up. No worries about messes here with Seresto™.

The price point of $70 is reasonable for 8 months of treatment and quite comparable to the cost of monthly treatments so it's a great alternative to those in the market now. Well worth it for a peace of mind and long-term flea and tick prevention for our furry friends. By the way, once you set up an automated reminder on their site for the collar change, you'll be able to download a $20 mail-in-rebate, making the collar only $50.
