It's been busy new year so far for me. I recently had the pleasure of attending a live taping of ABC's The View for Simply Stacie. I've been to a movie set visit before but it was my first time as live studio audience and being so ridiculously close to the show's hosts. Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Sherri Shepherd, and guest co-host, Kadee Strickland (Private Practice) were right in front of me as I enjoyed my 2nd row seats. LOL, those second row seats were also what snagged me great pics of Whoopi's wooden clogs.
Mmmhmm, she was rocking the clogs! I had a burning question in my mind about them and an audience member actually asked. Whoopi apparently was very comfortable in these wooden clogs she'd gotten from Disney. Kudos to her for going for comfort and making a fashion statement! The View had some great stars that day with Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn from Scandal, Andrea Borcelli, David Foster, and Yolanda Hadid (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills).Being big on healthy eating since I'm always trying to manage my weight and health properly, I was particularly interested in the Unilever sponsored segment featuring Ted Allen (host of Chopped) cooking with Sherri. Unilever has a variety of products including "I Can't Believe it's not Butter" and Country Crock which features lower saturated fats, 0g trans fats and 0mg cholesterol in comparison to butter.
Ted has created recipes that utilize these products so that health conscious eaters can create healthier alternatives to food that they love! Learn how to make Jalepeno Corn Bread with Ted and Sherri in the video or visit It is Good to Know for more recipes. Of course, no trip would be complete without an interview too, right? I loved how Ted was so friendly and accommodating. He answered quite a few of our questions. Here's a quick recap:
Q: Favorite food?
A: Mustard. His favorite food to cook is chicken though since it's quick and easy to cook at 5 minutes a side. If it's too thick, he just hammers it down to half it's size and cook for 5 minutes a side.
Q: Weirdest thing he's seen on "Chopped"?
A: Whole Chicken in a can from Swanson
Q: How long does he take to create a cookbook?
A: 4.5 months to write and 9 days of 4 people cooking in his house and making his kitchen a mess.
Q: Thoughts on pasta.
A: Do NOT Rinse it. LOL, don't tell the SO this but I've been giving him crap for not rinsing it out. Oops! Maybe he's the chef in our kitchen.
Q: What happens if you have a cooking question?
A: He calls the Food Network Chefs. Pretty convenient, huh?
I can't wait to try out Ted's new recipes with "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter". I have one in mind! I'm a lasagna fanatic and sometimes shy away from it because of the calorie and fat content. He has a Butternut Squash and Mushroom Lasagna recipe that sounds absolutely heavenly.
