I'm always trying to eat healthier but I do love my seafood! Crab cakes, calmari, and all that delectable fun! Unfortunately, those aren't that healthy for me. My healthiest seafood ventures would be sashimi. I've always loved Gorton's Seafood though because of the abundance of flavor but now they've come out with 20 new seafood options with 200 calories or less per serving!
I had to try it. My grocery store didn't have many that were of the under 200 calories flavor but I was able to pick up some Simply Bake Haddock in Garlic Herb Butter. That itself sounds amazing! What sounded even better was the fact that a serving (2 in a box with 2 fillets) was only 130 calories, 2.5g of fat, and 18g of protein. They came in these prepackaged "Bake Perfect Oven Bags" that you pop onto a shallow tray and bake. Simple enough, right?
The garlic herb butter sauce tasted heavenly over the gently cooked haddock. My fillet was starting to dry out a little but still tasted pretty good. With the packaging like this, it's quick to incorporate into meals. I found myself enjoying the time I had to prepare the rest of the meal while it baked by itself in the oven!My only issue with this particular entree was that the sodium concentration was pretty high. At 570mg per serving, that's 24% of your daily value in a 2000 calorie diet. If that could be brought down, I could see myself picking this up more often for my family. I am itching to try out some of their other options under 200 calories! What are you looking forward to trying? Buy It: Shop online or in stores for Gorton's Seafood. Win It: 1 lucky WOS reader will win their own Gorton's Kit just like mine which includes 5 full-value product coupons, a branded spatula, oven mitts, and an apron. Open to US, 18+. Good luck!
