I recently posted about visiting and helping out at the Animal Relief Fund Adoption Event. Since we visited a smaller scale adoption run, we decided to check out one of the bigger sites as well.
So this Nutrish® Ambassador stopped off at one of the Minnesota Animal Humane Society to again help out and donate Nutrish coupons for dog food and treats for hopeful adoptees.
The Animal Humane Society is the leading animal welfare organization in the Upper Midwest with multiple locations in Buffalo, Coon Rapids, Golden Valley, St. Paul and Woodbury. Their facilities not only offer adoption of dogs, rabbits, cats, birds, guinea pigs, mice, rats, hamsters, gerbils, chinchillas and ferrets, but also have a surrender and open admission policy. This means that they will accept all animals regardless of health, age, breed, or temperament that is surrendered to them. Animals are always offered a safe refuge and there is no judgement should one need to surrender their pet.Prior to adoption, all animals receive examinations, vaccinations and medical treatments, behavior assessments, microchipping and spaying or neutering.
Their mission is:
There were dogs of all breeds, ages, and sizes. It broke my heart how just a little attention could make them approach you and wag happily. Even the dogs that had no one to visit them, the older ones, the ones that sulked in the corner...as soon as I approached and gave them a little bit of attention, their tails would start working their way into a frenzy and they'd approach for more love and attention.
If I could take care of them, I would but it's just physically not possible. The one thing I do know is that they could all use forever homes - A family to call their own. I know I've gotten so much out of adopting and I wouldn't have it any other way.
The best gift is a loving home...Adopt.

To engage the hearts, hands and minds of the community to help animals.Being a private non-profit organization, the Animal Human Society relies completely on private donations, merchandise sales and adoption fees, and the help of volunteers and employees. Pretty impressive considering the massive facility I saw. It was almost heart breaking though as I visited and showered love on the various potential adoptees.
