As we're approaching Mother's Day and then Father's Day very soon, I think of the times we honor our parents and get to know them more. You know how we went through the I hate you phase as kids and now that we look back, we realize how silly we were? Just a few weeks ago, I was calling my family to chat on what's new and to discuss sending the hubby home to see his family. Me? I was just going to watch the dogs and save some money on boarding and flight costs.
Little did I know or expect that my parents would get all excited that I had a little time off and thought I was coming home to visit. Um...wait, I never said that. Needless to say, I am now going home to visit and felt awful that I was trying to avoid it and save some money.
At the end of the day, family is an important part of our lives and it really didn't take much for them to convince me to come home. There wasn't much convincing...just a lot of excitement...and then, sure, I'm coming home. Lol! Has that ever happened to you?
Then I thought about one of my feel good movies of last year, Delivery Man, starring Vince Vaughn, Cobie Smulders, and Chris Pratt. A convoluted and extensive family of 533 kids in all shapes, colors, and sizes - all with different life plans and different challenges, all wanting to meet their biological father, David Wozniak (played by Vince Vaughn).
Does Vince Vaughn plead insanity? Or take responsibility and create the world's largest immediate family?
