If you're looking for a last minute amazing holiday gift this season, I have a fantastic recommendation for you. One that is not only functional but can also create all sorts of personalized, heartfelt memories. Epson has recently come out with its next generation of Expression Premium printers and Small-in-One printers. What am I getting at? Read on to find out!
I'm no stranger to Epson printers and have in fact gone through multiple in my past. As a tech lover, I love functional yet compact gadgets. I've gone through all sorts of bulky printers. In fact, my last all-in-one was an Epson and it is a good size above the XP-530 that I now have come to love.
The new generation Expression Premium Small-In-Ones combines Epson’s MicroPiezo printing technology and Claria Premium five-ink system to deliver superior quality prints and sharpness in both picture and text printing. They boast up to borderless prints up to 8” x10”. The XP 530 was in fact so small that I wondered how it was an all-in-one. Then, I found the scanner, neaty tucked in the top of the printer. Everything is in a minimalist look, yet folds out to become so much more. Printing can be via your Wi-Fi network at home, directly via the built-in memory card slots and USB ports, and printing directly from your smart phone or tablet with Epson Connect™. You can even edit, scan and share photos directly to Facebook® or the cloud. The price point of $129 is quite reasonable considering its compact size and multi functionality.
Our breakdown of the Epson XP-530:
The Pros:
-Once the set up is complete, the printer runs much faster.
-High quality prints both with text and photos
-It prints beautiful pictures at a ridiculous speed. In fact, it was so fast (3-5 seconds for the image you see in this post) that I thought something must've gone wrong with the print! I was wrong and it came out beautifully. Sadly, I had no photo paper or it would've looked better!
-LOVE that there's a scanner and copier in it. The scanner has up to a 12000 x 2400 dpi/ppp resolution.
-WiFi printing means I don't have to lug my laptop around with me. I hit print and it goes!
-Compact size (5.4" x 13.4" x 15.4")
-With the printer, you create personalized colouring books or images that would make for great gifts! Did I mention, you could create your own personalized holiday gift card and print them at home? The Cons:
-Set up takes a surprisingly long time. The initial set up takes 7 minutes and the printer actually warns you of that.
-USB cable not included
Thoughts:
-The Claria cartridges aren't cheap, however how often they need to be replaced will depend on how much one prints or utilizes the machine. The price of the Epson XP 530 is definitely affordable and great for the pricing and it's worth it seeing the quality of the prints that come out.
