As we get past Halloween, we move into Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's that time of year where I start settling into the routine of looking for cozy, warm things! Right along those lines is a beautiful new addition to our movie collection at home, Gigi & Nate.

Synopsis:

In this uplifting drama inspired by actual events, Nate (Charlie Rowe) suffers a near-fatal illness and is left a quadriplegic just weeks before departing for college. As Nate tries to adjust to his new life challenges, his mother (Oscar® winner* Marcia Gay Harden) helps him bring home an unlikely service animal, Gigi — a curious and intelligent capuchin monkey. Nate and Gigi form an unbreakable bond, but when it’s threatened by a group trying to outlaw capuchins, Nate’s family rallies behind him to help him regain what he needs most: hope.

My husband and I are real suckers for based on real life or inspired by true story movies so this is something we both just gravitated towards.

Even just watching the movie touched my heart and warmed the soul. Imagine a young adult, unhindered by the world, with potential at his fingertips suddenly making just 1 bad decision and resulting in life-changing paralysis. Gone are the options of walking, plans of running...going to college. Instead, skills have to be relearnt, adjustments have to be made. I can only imagine how difficult it would be. However, never doubt how intelligent and helpful a good service animal can be. Sometimes, we just need a little help to get back up regardless of our station or situation in life.

This movie is perfect for the holidays as it is just straight out uplifting. It truly is amazing how the different species can provide hope and companionship. Gigi & Nate will be available for the suggested retail price of $24.99 for Blu-ray + Digital and $19.98 for DVD and is available on November 15th.

The cast includes Marcia Gay Harden, Charlie Rowe, Josephine Langford, Zoe Colletti, Hannah Riley, with Jim Belushi and and Diane Ladd. Gigi & Nate is an awe-inspiring addition to your family's movie collection this holiday season.
